What are you thankful for?
As we turn the calendar to November, we hope you are enjoying cooler temperatures and Fall activities. Here at Bald Ridge Lodge, our young men are focusing on school and work. Before we start enjoying our holiday activities, we wanted to say thank YOU for supporting our young men. Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for the generosity of our loving community!
We give thanks to YOU for being part of the Bald Ridge Lodge family and for investing in the boys' lives. We appreciate our community who help us to change lives and launch new futures. Each year, we declare November Thanks(for)giving month and take time to recognize and thank a few of the many people that play an important role in the lives of the young men we serve. We can't wait to tell their stories starting with the first one below!
We will highlight our Thanks(for)giving volunteer profiles on our Facebook and LinkedIn pages, so be sure to follow us there.
Corinne Bushelman, a dedicated volunteer at Bald Ridge Lodge, is making a real difference in the lives of our young men. Through her work with the Societal Action Committee (SAC) at Syensqo, she organizes regular dinners featuring a variety of cuisines from around the world.
These meals are much more than just a chance to enjoy delicious food. They are an opportunity for the boys to experience different cultures, try new things, and learn valuable social skills. Corinne believes that “food is a way to show love,” and she sees these shared meals to create a warm and welcoming environment for the boys.
The impact of Corinne's work is clear. During one Italian dinner, a resident who particularly enjoyed the pistachio gelato encouraged his peers to try it. This simple act demonstrated that the boys are learning from the volunteers and are willing to step outside of their comfort zones.
Corinne is inspired by moments like these to continue her work at Bald Ridge Lodge. She finds it deeply rewarding to give back to the community and help young people. She believes that sharing a meal together teaches us that despite our differences, we all have something in common: a love of good food.
Corinne, Thanks(for)giving so much of yourself to the Lodge!
