MISSION, BELIEFS, AND PROGRAMS
Our Mission is to provide a safe haven and counseling in a therapeutic environment for boys who are in need of protection, direction and supervision, in a manner that nurtures the child, strengthens family relationships and allows the community to care for their own.
A BOY’S STORY
We believe we can change lives.
We believe in the power of bringing the resources of community together.
We believe it is a privilege to work with, and on behalf of, our youth.
We believe that providing a safe and nurturing home-like environment is essential to the care and well being of our boys.
Bald Ridge Lodge (the Lodge) is a 12-bed home for boys ages 12 to 21 who are facing adversity preventing them from living at home. At Bald Ridge Lodge, the boys live in a safe and therapeutic environment. They receive counseling, educational support, and independent living skills training. Additionally, a significant benefit of the Lodge is the opportunity to build appropriate and therapeutic relationships between the boys and staff who care for them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our staff use the Nurtured Heart Approach™ in which residents learn to channel their intensity into greatness. Through 1:1 staff mentoring relationships, residents have firsthand experiences of success. Staff refuse to energize the negative. We instead energize the positive in our residents and are absolutely clear on boundaries.
PREVENTION AND AFTERCARE PROGRAM
By implementing training and support to parents, professionals, and other caregivers in the community through our Prevention and Aftercare Program, the Bald Ridge Lodge seeks to prevent subsequent out-of-home placements for successfully discharged residents as well as prevent new children from entering the Child Welfare system. Additional services provided by the program include routine engagement with families throughout the child’s placement with us to prepare for reunification, following up after discharge to support a successful reunification, providing ongoing parent training/coaching, and referrals to community resources.
