MISSION, BELIEFS, AND PROGRAMS

OUR MISSION

The mission of Bald Ridge Lodge (BRL) is to provide safe and stable support to
young men in the Group Home, Independent Living Program, and Community
Based Services, in a manner that nurtures the youth, strengthens healthy
relationships, and aids young men in their transition to adulthood. This is
accomplished through partnerships with caregivers and a community seeking to
care for its own.

A BOY’S STORY

OUR BELIEFS

We believe we can change lives.

We believe in the power of bringing the resources of community together.

We believe it is a privilege to work with, and on behalf of, our youth.

We believe that providing a safe and nurturing home-like environment is essential to the care and well being of our boys.

OUR PROGRAMS

RESIDENTAL PROGRAM

Bald Ridge Lodge’s Group Home serves young men (age 12 to 21) who have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect. At Bald Ridge Lodge, our residents live in a safe & therapeutic environment where their basic and therapeutic needs are met. They receive counseling, educational support, mentoring, and life skills. Staff build therapeutic relationships with boys they care for 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Staff use the Nurtured Heart Approach TM (NHA) to help teens learn to channel their intensity into greatness and experience success firsthand. Staff refuse to give attention to negative behaviors, relentlessly create experiences of success while emphasizing positive behaviors, and are absolutely clear with consequences and limits.

COMMUNITY BASED PROGRAMS

Bald Ridge Lodge offers Community Based Services in two ways. Aftercare services include follow up with former residents living as adults and former residents now living with family, providing coaching as needed to maintain successful and stable lives, and providing referrals to community resources. Secondly, Bald Ridge Lodge provides group training and one-on-one coaching in NHA for families and professionals in the community who wish to build the inner resources and positive character qualities of children in their lives, especially those with intense behaviors. This training supports Aftercare clients as well as the community at large.
